A plastic kit of the French Mirage IIIE fighter in 1:72 scale from the ARK Model brand. It is an injection-molded kit meant for gluing and painting, so the model is not supplied assembled. The exact contents of the package, the number of parts and the number of marking schemes are stated on the packaging of the kit.
The Mirage III is a French single-engine fighter of tailless layout with a delta wing, that is, without a horizontal tail surface, controlled by means of surfaces on the trailing edge of the wing. The IIIE version was a multirole fighter and attack variant with a lengthened forward fuselage, which created room for extended equipment for attacks on ground targets. Power was provided by a SNECMA Atar jet engine. The type was among the most successful European combat airplanes of its era, flew with a number of foreign users and became the basis of further branches of development. The delta wing gave good speed at altitude and a simple structure in exchange for a higher landing speed.
Cut the parts off with nippers and clean up the parting lines. Glue with a thin cement for plastic, which is drawn into the seam by itself. On a delta wing it pays off to give attention to the transition between wing and fuselage, where filler and sanding tend to be needed. Finish the cockpit and the nose landing gear before closing the fuselage up; on airplanes with a long forward section, weight ahead of the center of gravity often helps as well, so that the model does not sit down on its tail. Lay down a primer before painting, apply the decals onto gloss varnish and in the end even the surface out according to the scheme chosen.
