A Montex set for painting a model of the single-engine DB-8A/3N attack aircraft. The name states that besides the cockpit glazing from the outer and the inner side it also includes templates for the national insignia. Sprayed insignia have the advantage that no glossy edge of a carrier film is left on the surface, the kind that sometimes gives a decal away.
The DB-8A/3N was an export development branch of the American series of light two-seat attack and reconnaissance aircraft of the second half of the 1930s. The machines from this order reached the Dutch East Indies, where crews put them into action at the beginning of 1942 against the advancing Japanese superiority. Against modern fighters the type was hopelessly slow and weakly armed, so its combat career lasted only a few weeks. It is exactly that short and dramatic story that makes the model a rewarding subject on a shelf among the usual fighters.
First finish the whole camouflage spray job and let it harden for at least a day. Only then lay the insignia templates on, otherwise there is a risk of fresh paint lifting with them. Spray the color of the insignia perpendicular and very lightly, ideally in two passes, so that it does not get under the edge. Fit the inner masking of the glazing before the cockpit is closed and combine it with the interior shade.
The model, the paints and cyanoacrylate glue are not in the package.
