A generic set of 1:72 decals for the Danish F-35A. It contains national insignia, sets of numerals and the service lettering common to the whole fleet.

The Royal Danish Air Force chose the F-35A in 2016 and ordered twenty-seven examples with which it is replacing its long-serving F-16s. The transition proceeded gradually, including crew training on American soil, and for a small Nordic country it meant a fundamental change in the way a fighter fleet is operated and maintained.
The set sticks to the elements that every Danish machine carries regardless of its serial number. These include the red and white national insignia, separately printed numerals for assembling the identification, the markings of affiliation and the fine service lettering placed around the landing gear bays, the refueling point and the electronics bay covers. The modeler decides for himself which particular machine he wants to build and assembles the necessary insignia from a photograph.
On this type the surface of the airframe is deliberately matte and rougher, which does not suit decals. It therefore pays to polish the spots under the insignia with gloss varnish and to let it cure properly. Lay the insignia one at a time and leave a short interval between individual pieces, so that the area does not get soaked. Draw the excess water out with the corner of absorbent paper and finally unify the whole model with a matte spray, which suppresses the sheen around the edges and returns the surface to its original character.
Machines from the north operate in weather that changes within a few hours, and their exteriors show it. A finished model therefore looks more convincing when fine traces of ordinary handling appear around the panel joints.
