A decal sheet in 1:72 scale from the British manufacturer Xtradecal. According to the name it covers four subversions of the Do 215B series. The contents of the package are a sheet of waterslide decals and instructions with the schemes only: the model, the paints and the varnishes are not part of it. The extent of the markings and the particular machines are given by the manufacturer on the packaging, which it is advisable to compare before buying with the kit you have.
The Dornier Do 215 was a twin-engined all-metal aircraft with a narrow fuselage and a twin vertical tail, derived in design from the Do 17Z. It differed chiefly in its powerplant: in place of radial engines it was given liquid-cooled ones, thanks to which the shape of the forward part of the nacelles changed. The B series took in several forms differing in equipment and in role, including a reconnaissance form and a version adapted for night operations, which carried different equipment in the nose.
Aircraft of this category tend to be painted in saturated dark camouflage, and it is precisely on these that the covering quality of decals shows. Light items, especially the white parts of the national insignia and light codes, can show through on a dark base. If that happens, let the decal dry and cover it with a second copy exactly on top of it, or spray a small light patch under the decal beforehand. Always try one decal out away from a visible place first. Gloss varnish belongs under the decals, clear varnish again once they are dry, and only then the matting.
A decal sheet is not a kit. The model, paints, varnish and glue are not included in the package.
