Decals 1:72 for two transport Douglases: a museum machine from California and an aircraft of the 53rd Troop Carrier Squadron.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas C-47 is the military guise of the transport DC-3 and without exaggeration belongs among the few machines that decided how the Second World War was fought. It carried cargo, the wounded and paratroopers, landed on makeshift strips and many examples of it fly to this day. The sheet offers two such machines, both with a real history that can be traced even after eighty years.
The span of a Dakota is respectable even in 1:72, and decals mostly go onto flat areas on it, which is a pleasant relief compared with fighters. Only the transition between the fuselage and the wing root deserves care, and the area around the cargo door, where the surface of a model tends to be the most broken up. Both machines have civil as well as military elements of marking, so they can be built in the state in which they flew, or in their later museum guise.
Before laying them it is advisable to clear coat the area with gloss paint, because a matte surface shows through under large carriers. Longer inscriptions are better divided once they have seated and not beforehand, otherwise the adjoining parts are hard to line up straight. With the museum guise it moreover suits the surface to be only lightly flattened once finished, because maintained machines have paint markedly richer than machines in field service.
