About product

Eduard Douglas TA-4J Skyhawk masks (1:72)

This is a set of self-adhesive painting masks in kabuki paper, not a model. The masks follow the shape of the canopy glazing frames of the two-seat TA-4J Skyhawk trainer exactly and make it possible to spray sharp transitions without laboriously going round them with a brush. Masks for the wheels are usually included as well.

The real subject

The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was a light and agile carrier-based attack aircraft of the US Navy. The two-seat TA-4J trainer version with its lengthened canopy served for pilot training and stayed in service for decades. Glazing with pronounced framing is an ideal task for pre-cut masks.

Use and tips

Peel the individual parts off with tweezers and place them exactly on the frames. Press the masks down firmly so that paint does not creep under them, and spray in thin coats. Cover the middle of the glazing with the filler included or with a liquid mask. Once the finish has dried, take the masks off carefully.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the Skyhawk in 1:72 scale
  • Modelers who prefer sharp paint edges to a brush
  • Those who want to speed up masking the cockpit
  • The maker of the accessory: Eduard (Czech Republic)

These are painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
