Dead Design 1:72 E13A Jake is a set of die-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing of the cockpit and of the lower part of the fuselage of the Japanese reconnaissance floatplane in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Japanese Aichi E13A reconnaissance floatplane in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory to a model. It covers the framing of the long glazed cockpit and also the glazing in the lower part of the fuselage, which serves for observation downwards.
The E13A was a three-seat floatplane reconnaissance aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy, launched by catapult from surface ships. Its cockpit is unusually long, glazed in many panes, and the fuselage has observation windows on top of that. Glazing like that is a nightmare for masking by hand: there are a great many frames, they are narrow and irregular. A pre-cut set cuts this work down to a few minutes and the frames come out even.
Wash and degrease the clear parts, or the masks will not hold. Stick them on with tweezers, press them down from the center outwards and push the edges home with a toothpick. Mask the glazing for the downward view before closing the fuselage up, or it will be hard to reach later. Apply thin coats of paint and remove the mask once the paint has set, not after the varnish has fully cured.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
