About product

A EUR pallet in 1:72 scale

The wooden EUR pallet is the most widespread means of transport in the world, and in a scene it works as a universal building block: it can be stacked, propped against a wall, loaded onto vehicles or used to build a makeshift floor and walkways. The standard plan of the pallet, 1200 by 800 millimeters, corresponds in 1:72 scale to only about a centimeter and a half, so this is a genuinely small stand-alone object of a scene — not a kit and not a part for another model.

Where the accessory suits

It comes into its own in depots, at ramps, at stations, in a military support area, on a building site and in a civilian yard. Pallets are among the props you never have too many of — whether you stack boxes and barrels on them or use them merely as empty filling of space. They also look good propped against a wall at an angle, because they break the strict geometry of a scene.

Cleaning up and painting tips

Wash the part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry, then clean up the residue from production. The wood of a pallet has no uniform shade — if you paint the base gray-brown and then set the individual boards apart slightly with warmer and cooler tones, the result will be immediately more believable. A dry brush in a light ocher will pick out the edges and the texture of the boards, and a dark wash will bring out the joints between the slats. Abrasions, mud marks with a pigment at the lower edge and a few dark patches will give a pallet a worked look.

Who the accessory is for

  • Builders of depot, station and industrial dioramas in 1:72
  • Modelers of military support areas, ramps and supply scenes
  • Anyone interested in techniques for painting wood on a small area
  • Collectors who fill out display scenes with small equipment

Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No. It is a scenic accessory — a stand-alone object for a diorama or a display cabinet, to be stood in a scene beside models.

Check the number of pallets on the packaging.

A standard EUR pallet measures 1200 by 800 millimeters in plan, which in 1:72 corresponds to roughly a centimeter and a half by eleven millimeters.

Set the individual boards apart slightly with warmer and cooler shades, pick the edges out with a dry brush and bring the joints out with a dark wash.
