Replacement exhaust nozzle parts for a model of the Grumman F-14A Tomcat carrier-based fighter in 1:72 scale. What makes the set unusual is that the nozzles are not alike: each one is caught in a different position, the way it tends to look on a parked aircraft. The model gains a detail that cannot be done with the parts from the box, because those are usually both the same.
The diameter of the exhaust nozzle of a jet engine changes with its power setting. When the aircraft is standing and the engines are shut down, each nozzle stays in the position its last run left it in, so the two sides as a rule differ. Photographs of parked Tomcats show it well. A model built with two equally open nozzles therefore looks static, whereas differing positions lend the tail end credibility.
Dry-fit the parts on the tail end of the model first and glue them only then, so that they follow the outline of the engine nacelles without a step. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. The parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic has no effect on them, so use super glue. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Paint the inside of the nozzles before you seat them on the model.
Supplied are the replacement nozzle parts according to the name. The kit, paints, decals and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
