This is not a kit of the aircraft, but a self-adhesive masking set from kabuki tape for a model of the F-4C and F-4D Phantom II in 1:72 scale. EXPERT is the highest of the three grades that New Ware distinguishes among its sets, and it corresponds to the widest extent of masking.
On the real aircraft the cockpit frames are not the same color on both sides — on the inside they follow on from the interior, on the outside from the camouflage. A model whose frames are painted only from the outside will give away bare transparent plastic when seen from above. The solution is to paint the frames with the interior color first, let them dry through and only then apply the exterior shade. In small scales it is exactly this two-stage procedure that is the quickest route to a cockpit that looks credible even close up.
Paint the transparent parts separately from the fuselage and glue them on only at the end, ideally with glue for transparent plastics or with a drop of white glue, which does not fog. Lay the masks on dry, verify the position and press them down with a soft stick. Before the camouflage itself, spray a thin layer of the model's base color over the mask — any run-under will then show up neutrally and you will not have to repaint the final camouflage color. Once the masks are off, check the edges against the light and put small shortcomings right with a fine brush, not with fresh masking.
The set holds only the masks. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
