Masks for the landing gear bays of the Crusader in 1:72 scale in a form for the Italeri and Esci kits define the boundary between the inside and the outer skin.
Responsibility details are not available.
Covering pieces for the lower part of a seventy-second scale Vought F-8E, this time in the variant allowing for the kits of the Italeri and Esci brands. This detail is stated because otherwise identically named items differ only in which model they aim at. The set does not replace a kit; it supplements it in the painting phase.
The development of the Crusader was started by the US Navy's demand for a supersonic machine that would fit onto the aircraft carriers of the day. The designers staked everything on a high-set lifting surface with leading-edge flaps and on a deep fuselage into which fuel and armament fitted. The wing folded for storage below deck, with the tips rising upward. Besides the fighter sub-versions, a numerous photo-reconnaissance family came about whose machines flew over Cuba and over North Vietnam. Export went to France, where modified examples flew from smaller decks, and later to the Philippines as well. The last examples disappeared from active service only after several decades, which is a remarkable service life for a machine from the middle of the 1950s.
If you want the inner spaces light and the outside in naval camouflage, start from the inside precisely. After covering, concentrate on an even coat of the outer shade and let it set before you move to the next step. Run a fingernail along the edges of the covering before spraying, so that they lie flat everywhere.
