A finished collector model of the F-86F-30 Sabre jet fighter in the South African Air Force markings given in the product name. The model from the maker Easy Model arrives assembled, painted and marked. It is not a kit: you are not buying parts but a finished example for a display case.
The F-86 Sabre is a single-engine first-generation jet fighter with a swept wing, a direct air intake in the nose and a simple axial-flow engine. The F version is one of the later standards with a more powerful engine; within it, the higher production blocks saw a reworked wing with a revised leading-edge profile, which improved its behavior at high speeds. The armament was machine guns, placed at the sides of the nose. Besides its country of origin the type was used by a number of foreign operators, the South African Air Force among them.
Finished models have the advantage that they can be put together into themed series faster than kits. In a single 1:72 scale the Sabre works well in two arrangements: either as a series of operators of one type, in which the color schemes and insignia of different countries are compared, or as a cross section of first-generation jet fighters side by side. In both cases it helps that the models have comparable workmanship and that varying quality of finish is not mixed in them. For legibility, stand the machines head-on and turned slightly, so that the shape of the wing and the markings on the fuselage are both visible.
The model is supplied finished, assembled and painted. Nothing is glued or painted.
