A resin cockpit set for a model of the Vought F-8E Crusader carrier fighter in 1:72 scale from Aires. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for improving a plastic kit of the matching type. The set replaces the simplified cockpit from the box with precisely cast parts: the cockpit tub, the instrument panel, the seat and the side panels, all with fine relief.
The F-8 Crusader was a supersonic carrier fighter of the US Navy. It was marked by a variable-incidence wing, which was raised for takeoff and landing on a carrier. The E version was a multirole form able to carry external armament as well, and it was used during the conflict in Vietnam.
Wash the parts to remove any mold release agent, separate them from the casting blocks and dry-fit them; on some kits the inner walls of the fuselage need slight reworking. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and protect your airways while sanding resin. The cockpit comes out once painted with an airbrush and brought up with a dark wash.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not an airplane model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
