This item is not an aircraft kit, but a detail accessory: a set of etched parts made of photo-etched sheet, produced by the Czech brand Eduard, intended to refine a model of the F4U-1D Corsair aircraft in 1:72 scale. The etched parts replace or add to the kit's plastic parts where injection-molded plastic cannot hold scale thickness — that is, mainly for small sheet-metal details. The scope of the set, the number of parts and which kit it is cut for are stated in the included instructions; before buying, we recommend comparing the set's contents with your kit.
The Vought F4U Corsair was an American carrier-based fighter of the Second World War, recognizable by its inverted gull wing, long nose and a large radial engine. The F4U-1D version belonged to the later production series built in the second half of the war and was also prepared for the fighter-bomber role, with underwing pylons for unguided rockets and bombs. The aircraft served with the US Navy and Marine Corps in the Pacific and spread to other users after the war.
Cut the etched parts from the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with clippers — the sheet would bend. Make bends in a simple bending tool or between two blades, so the edge is sharp and straight. Glue with a minimal amount of cyanoacrylate applied with a toothpick or fine wire; an alternative is thin liquid plastic cement where the etch is glued onto a plastic base. Bare sheet should be degreased and sprayed with a primer before painting, or the paint will flake off. For parts supplied already printed, be careful with aggressive lacquers and thinners.
This is an accessory for the build, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
