A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the British Phantom FG.1 in 1:72 scale. It adds the detail for which a plastic part is too thick.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Phantom FG.1 is the British version of the two-seat Phantom fighter aircraft. It can be told from the American machines by its British-built powerplants: because of them the rear fuselage has a fuller shape and the air intakes are larger. The nose gear was also reworked so that the aircraft could take off from the shorter decks of British aircraft carriers. Machines of this version appeared in service with both the naval and the land-based air arms.
Photo-etched parts are thin metal items made photochemically on a common fret. The metal is a few tenths of a millimeter thick, and so it can manage detail that can only be rendered in a simplified way in plastic. Which parts the fret carries, and where on the model they belong, is shown by the manufacturer's instructions; the scope of the set differs from item to item and the name does not specify it.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, and never snap them out of the fret. Make the bends over a sharp edge, ideally in a bending tool or between two metal rules. Photo-etch is bonded with super glue or with a two-part epoxy, as cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and apply a primer, otherwise the shade rubs off in handling.
The model, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
