It is one figure: the commander of an assault group with the nickname Batya. The scale of 1:72 means that an adult man measures roughly twenty-five millimeters on the model, that is a little less than the length of a finger joint. At this size the figure carries above all the silhouette, the stance and the rough shapes of the gear. The specific form, that is the weapon, the pouches and the other equipment, is shown by the manufacturer in the illustration for the set.
The scale of 1:72 is used for models of aircraft and of military equipment, and in recent years a great many present-day subjects have been appearing in it. A figure in its own right therefore comes into use beside a vehicle, at a post or in a small diorama, where it has the function of a scale: only by a man does the viewer see how large the machine standing next to him is.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part, sand the remainder carefully and wash and degrease the figure before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the part. In this scale it holds that less is more: start with a darker ground, then brighten the upper surfaces, that is the shoulders, the helmet and the backs of the hands, and at the end run a dark wash through the folds. The face will make do with two tones, the eyes are not painted in, and a dark shadow in the socket is enough. Suggest the camouflage pattern with small patches, not with exact drawing. At the end unify the surface with a matte clear coat and seat the figure firmly, because a small figure is easily knocked off.
