A small accessory for figures in 1:72 scale, not a figure on its own and not a kit of a model. The set captures a fire helmet, that is a type of headgear that production sets of figures practically do not offer. Thanks to it a modeler can put together the crew of a firefighting vehicle or an emergency team for a diorama.
A fire helmet is the key distinguishing element of a whole scene. As soon as the figures at a pump or at a fire engine get the right headgear, a diorama reads correctly at once even from a distance. The accessory suits models of firefighting vehicles, airfield scenes with a rescue vehicle, racing pit lanes and civilian scenes where the responding crew is meant to be set apart from the bystanders.
If the figure carries headgear of its own, cut it away with a scalpel and level the crown of the head with a file, so that the helmet seats with no gap. Try the part dry and watch how it is set in relation to the face. It is glued with super glue, and you will even the seam around the circumference out with a thin strip of two-part filler. Spray the whole with a base coat before painting. Fire helmets tend to be glossy and light, so it pays off to lay down a smooth ground and to complete the top layer with a gloss varnish. In 1:72 reflective stripes and a badge are suggested with only a few strokes of the finest brush, and a dark wash is then drawn into the recesses.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the figure itself are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
