The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 is a German single-seat fighter of the Second World War. The A version is powered by an air-cooled fourteen-cylinder BMW 801 arranged as a two-row radial, which gives the machine its short, wide nose and the unmistakable shape of the engine cowling. In English-language sources the type is known under the nickname Butcherbirds. The A-8 is the most widespread of the production versions of the A series, and machines with the R2 fit carried 30 mm cannons in the wing, armament aimed at formations of heavy bombers. The German designation Rammjäger refers to the use of these fighters against precisely those formations.
The sheet is prepared for 1:72 scale and concentrates on Fw 190A-8/R2 machines. Being numbered as part one places it at the start of a longer series, continued by further sheets with the same type. The decals carry national insignia, numbers and lettering; the camouflage is sprayed beforehand and the sheet does not replace it.
Give the area under the decal a gloss clear coat; on a matte surface the edge of the film would give itself away by silvering. Trim the motif close to the print, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until the film starts to slide on the paper. Seat it in position on the model, draw the excess water off with a soft cloth and help it over raised detail with a decal softener. Secure the finished markings with a clear coat and only then give the model its final matte surface.
