A photo-etched detail set in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory that refines the interior of the plastic kit of the Fairey Gannet AS.Mk.1/4 carrier aircraft. The thin metal parts replace and complete small features that cannot be made faithfully in injection-molded plastic, typically the instrument panel, the side panels of the cockpit, controls, seats and seat belts. The set is meant for modelers who want to lift a base kit to a higher level.
The Fairey Gannet was a British carrier-based antisubmarine aircraft with turboprop power and folding wings, meant for operation from aircraft carriers. The AS.Mk.1 and AS.Mk.4 versions served in the antisubmarine role with the Fleet Air Arm in the 1950s.
Separate the photo-etched parts carefully from the fret, bend them on the edge of a blade or in a bending tool and join them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Areas finished in color need only be cleaned up, while matte metal parts should be given a primer before varnishing. Working with fine photo-etched parts calls for tweezers and patience and suits advanced builders better.
This is an accessory, not a model of the aircraft. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
