An injection-molded plastic kit of the command and infantry car of the German BP-42 armored train in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The set holds modern-tooled parts for the car and sections of track on which the model shows to good effect. It is one of the cars that made up a complete armored train.
The BP-42 was one of the standardized types of German armored train used during the Second World War, above all to protect rear railway lines and against partisans. The train had a symmetrical layout with an armored locomotive in the middle and identically armed cars at the front and at the rear. The command car, the Kommandowagen, served the command of the train and carried an infantry detachment that could secure the ground along the line.
Assemble and fit the bogies and the running gear first, and only then finish the body of the car. It is a good idea to paint and weather the interior and the open embrasures before you close the body up. Thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush are the way to go; the surface comes alive with washes in the riveted joints and fine pigments for a sense of dust and rust. The track sections supplied form a natural base for a small diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
