Injection-molded plastic kit of the German StuG IV assault gun in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. Unlike the related StuG III it combines the assault gun superstructure with the chassis of the Panzer IV tank. The box holds injection-molded plastic on several sprues together with one-piece flexible tracks and illustrated instructions.
The StuG IV came about as a remedy when the Alkett factory building the StuG III was hit by air raids and assault gun production fell short. The proven StuG III superstructure with the long 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 gun was therefore transferred to the wider chassis of the Panzer IV tank. Its distinguishing feature is the driver's armored cab set forward on the left of the hull, because the Panzer IV chassis placed the driver differently. The StuG IV proved itself a cheap and effective tank destroyer in the last two years of the war.
Finish the running gear and the lower hull of the Panzer IV first, and only then fit the superstructure. Align the driver's cab at the front left carefully; it is the identifying feature of the whole real subject. Spray the period color with an airbrush in thin coats, give the engraved lines depth with a dark wash and weather the running gear with dust pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
