A plastic kit of the Ausf. E version of the German Pz.Kpfw. IV medium tank in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer Mirage Hobby. The package holds plastic frames, photo-etched parts, soft plastic tracks, a decal sheet and building instructions. The boxing is tied to the Eastern Front in 1941. The set has a higher number of parts and is among the more demanding kits in its scale.
The Ausf. E is one of the early versions of the medium tank, which served as a support vehicle with a short 75 mm gun of low muzzle velocity. Against the earlier versions it received thicker frontal armor, and some vehicles were fitted with additional armor plates bolted to the hull and the superstructure. The commander's cupola and the rear of the hull also went through changes. The running gear with eight small wheels per side and leaf springs stayed the same as on the other versions of the type.
Count on a great many small parts, cut the parts off with a sharp tool and clean them with a file. Assemble and paint the running gear before closing the hull up. Glue the soft tracks with cyanoacrylate glue and not with cement for polystyrene. The additional armor plates call for a clean fit, so try them dry first. Spray the base over a primer, pick the edges out with dry brushing, sink a dark wash into the recesses and dust the underside of the hull with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
