A plastic model of the Gotha Go 242 B-2 in 1:72 scale from IBG models. An injection-molded kit of the German transport glider for carrying troops and cargo. Note: this is not the powered Go 244 version but the classic towed glider.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic model of the German transport glider Gotha Go 242 B-2 in 1:72 scale from IBG models. It is an unpowered towed glider; do not confuse it with the powered twin-engine Go 244 version. The kit contains plastic parts and decals for Luftwaffe color markings.
The Go 242 was a medium transport glider of the Luftwaffe intended for carrying troops and cargo. A powered aircraft towed it into the air, and after release it glided and landed on a short strip close to its objective. Its characteristic features were a pod fuselage with a loading rear section that made loading easier, a pair of tail booms and a high-set wing. The B series differed from the early A series in revised landing gear. It was from this airframe that the powered Go 244 version later grew.
Because this is a glider, give attention to clean glazing of the large canopy and to the interior of the cargo compartment, which is well in view on a landed model with the rear section open, so paint it before you close up the fuselage. Thin cement for plastic and a dry fit of the thin booms and the wing both pay off. Spray the broad surfaces with an airbrush; bring out the typical transport camouflage by drawing the transitions in and with a fine wash. The model stands out well in a diorama with a tow plane or with paratroopers.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
