This item is not a model of a machine but a group of small figures for a diorama. It serves to give a scene a story: the figures give finished hardware a comparison of size and tell the viewer what is actually happening on the base. The subject is set at the end of the winter of 1945 and refers to the town of Guben.
Guben stands on the Lusatian Neisse in what is today eastern Brandenburg. In the spring of 1945 the front passed through it and the built-up area was largely wrecked; after the war the town was divided by the border river into two parts, which today belong to two states. For a modeler that means typical Central European building: plastered and brick houses, paved streets, low walls and snow-covered yards. The scene can therefore be built on a small area and concentrated on a single street corner.
A winter scene invites white, but purely white snow looks unnatural. It is better to break it toward gray and let a dirty tone come out at the edges of the road. Tone the uniforms toward green-gray and brown with a higher proportion of gray. Deal with the faces in three steps: a base, a darker glaze into the recesses and a lighter cast on the forehead, the nose and the chin. Fix the finished figures with a matte varnish, so that the whole scene looks unified.
The number of figures, their posture and the material used are not determined in the name of the item, so nothing is stated about them here.
