Eduard 1:72 Harrier GR.3 (painting masks)

A set of self-adhesive Eduard painting masks in quality yellow Japanese kabuki tape. The parts are machine-cut with precision and make quick, clean masking of the frames of the glazed cockpit easier while a plastic model of the Harrier GR.3 ground-attack aircraft in 1:72 scale is painted. This is an accessory to a kit, not the model itself.

The real subject

The BAe Harrier GR.3 was a British ground-attack aircraft with vertical and short takeoff and landing (V/STOL). Its vectored thrust was provided by a Rolls-Royce Pegasus engine. The GR.3 was the improved ground-attack version of the first generation of RAF Harriers and made its name with its deployment in the Falklands War.

Use and tips

• Degrease the glazing and rid it of dust before applying them.
• Carry the individual parts with tweezers and press the edges down with a toothpick.
• Spray the paint in thin coats, so that it does not run under the mask.
• Lift the masks off while the paint is still slightly supple, for a crisp transition.
