The third part of the decal series for the German Heinkel He 111 bomber in 1:72 scale. Seven machines of the H-4, H-5 and H-6 versions from bomber wings committed over France, Norway, Russia and Ukraine between 1940 and 1942.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Heinkel He 111 came into being in the mid-1930s and in the form every modeler knows, that is with a smoothly glazed nose and an offset ventral gun gondola, it formed the backbone of the German bomber force from the start of the war. The elliptical planform of the lifting surfaces gave the machine a characteristic silhouette. The H-series versions differed in armament and equipment; some carried gear for dropping mines or torpedoes and others served to guide further machines to the target.
The finishes offered cover the period from the spring of 1940 to the autumn of 1942. KG 1, named Hindenburg, from Amiens in France in February 1941 is represented, along with KG 26, named Löwen, from northern Norway and from Poix-Nord, KG 27, named Boelcke, from Tours and from the Kursk area, KG 28 from Seshchinskaya in Russia in the winter of 1941 and 1942, and KG 55, named Greif, from Dnepropetrovsk in June 1942. Each subject is given with the fuselage code including the plus symbol, which is typical of German bombers of that time and lends the model credibility.
The individual letters of the fuselage codes come in different colors according to the Schwarm and the Staffel, so compare them with the diagram before application so as not to mix up the order. Temporary winter finishes are usually uneven and a decal holds worse on them; a local gloss coat helps. The package holds a printed sheet; obtain the model of the bomber separately. It is worth masking the extensive glazing of the nose section before any lettering is applied.
