HMS Furious was among the pioneering British aircraft carriers. She was converted from a vessel originally built for another purpose and in the Second World War she served the Royal Navy. For a modeler she is interesting mainly for how many different types of carrier aircraft passed over her deck during her service.
The display base for a model in 1:72 scale is acrylic 3 mm thick and measures 280x180 mm, that is 28x18 centimeters. This variant carries the Type 2 designation and relates to the year 1942; the manufacturer also makes the Type 1 version under a different code, so there are two forms of the same motif to choose from.
The base gives a model a background and a sense of scale in a display case and unifies the whole collection. The model is simply stood on it; nothing is glued or modified, so it also suits finished collector pieces. The board holds its shape, does not sag and protects the surface underneath.
