A die-cut self-adhesive masking set for the British twin-engine Handley Page HP.52 Hampden bomber in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Peewit. It is not an aircraft model but a set of precisely cut masks of fine masking tape, which make it easier to spray the frames of the richly glazed nose and of the cockpit cleanly, without the laborious hand cutting of tape.
The Hampden was a British medium bomber of the beginning of the Second World War, recognizable by its narrow fuselage with a slender rear end, which earned it a nickname referring to the shape of a pan handle. It was powered by two Bristol Pegasus radial engines. It was used for night bombing, minelaying and long-range tasks; the crew sat in cramped glazing. It is precisely the extensive glazing of the nose and the cockpit that makes accurate masks a great help on this model.
Transfer the masks to a perfectly clean and degreased surface, place them exactly and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a burnisher so that paint does not run under them. First spray the interior shade of the framing, then, once it has dried, the exterior color, and take the masks off before the paint has fully cured. Any glue residue can be removed by gently moistening it.
The set contains self-adhesive masks; it is not a model and not a kit. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
