The real subject

The Centurion is a British tank of the postwar generation that proved itself so well that it served in armies all over the world. Israel introduced it on a large scale and gradually modified it according to its own experience, so the Israeli machines differ from the British ones in a number of details and in everything they carry on them. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject: an angular silhouette and a great deal of gear on the hull.

What the set is for

The accessory set is in 1:72 scale and is prepared for ACE kits. It completes a model with the features that make a tank a vehicle in everyday service rather than an exhibit from the factory. In a small scale a few small things are enough and the silhouette of the vehicle changes at once. The make-up of the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the traces left by manufacture. Try the arrangement of the accessories dry and seat them only afterwards. Cyanoacrylate glue holds on resin and on plastic alike, so it will join the accessories to the kit. Wash and degrease everything before painting.

• paint the accessories separately and glue them on only once painted
• choose an asymmetric arrangement; a symmetrical one looks artificial
• a flow into the shadows draws out the shapes of the small parts
• apply the dust over the vehicle and the accessories at once so they match
