Ilyushin Il-2 1:72 (Smer) is a plastic kit of the Soviet armored attack aircraft of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet attack aircraft Ilyushin Il-2 in 1:72 scale from Smer. A model of one of the most numerously produced combat aircraft in history.
The Il-2, nicknamed the Shturmovik, was a Soviet attack aircraft built for strikes on ground targets. Its key feature was the armored bathtub protecting the engine, the pilot and the vital systems, thanks to which the aircraft stood up to fire from the ground. Armed with cannon, machine guns, rockets and bombs, it became one of the most effective and most massively produced combat aircraft of the Second World War.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement applied into the seams. On older molds, dry-fit the parts and clean up the mating surfaces. Lay a primer before painting; the typical Soviet camouflage of dark green and brown is best sprayed with an airbrush. Fidelity benefits from a light rendering of the armored bathtub and of paint rub-through on the leading edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
