A scale of 1:72 makes the model a compact piece for a display case that can easily be stood next to other contemporary machines of the same size.
The Mitsubishi F-2 is a Japanese multirole airplane derived from the American F-16, on the development of which the Japanese side worked together with an American partner. Compared with the starting type it has a markedly larger wing, largely of composites, a modified and lengthened fuselage, a differently designed cockpit canopy and its own onboard equipment. It is powered by one afterburning turbofan engine. The F-2 became one of the first production airplanes equipped with an electronically scanned array radar. The F-2A version is the single-seat combat variant, which the Japan Air Self-Defense Force operates above all in the support and antiship roles.
Finish and paint the cockpit before closing up the fuselage and consider right away whether the model needs nose weight. Always leave the seat and the instrument panel a shade darker than would seem right, otherwise the detail is lost in a small scale. Use liquid cement on the plastic, take the seams on the fuselage and the leading edges down by sanding and restore the engraving, so that the panels are not lost. Spray a primer before painting and check the seams against the light. Spray a multitone camouflage scheme from the lightest shade to the darker one and keep the transitions soft but narrow. Apply gloss varnish under the decals and matte it down once it has dried. Pick out the panel lines with a thin wash and do not overdo it, because the model is small and a dense net of lines looks unrealistic.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
