About product

Eduard Jet Provost T.3/T.3a 1:72 painting mask set

This is a set of self-adhesive painting masks cut from Japanese kabuki masking tape by the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:72 scale. The masks serve for accurate and clean spraying of the cockpit glazing frames and usually the wheel hubs as well on a plastic model of the BAC Jet Provost T.3/T.3a. It is not a kit or a set of decals but an aftermarket accessory for painting, used while building the matching model. The model itself is bought separately.

The real subject

The BAC Jet Provost was a British jet trainer derived from the piston-engined Provost. The T.3 version and the modernized T.3a served for the basic training of RAF pilots. With the instructor and the pupil seated side by side, the aircraft was notable for its easy handling and became the backbone of British jet training for many years.

Use

  • The masks are transferred from the backing sheet and stuck onto the clear cockpit glazing following the shape of the frames.
  • The edges are pressed down so that paint does not creep under the mask, and the area is sprayed with an airbrush.
  • Once dry, the masks are lifted; kabuki tape holds its shape and leaves no adhesive behind.
  • Masks for the wheel hubs are usually included, for easy separation of the tire from the rim.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers building a Jet Provost T.3/T.3a model in 1:72 scale who want clean cockpit frames
  • Builders who do not want to cut the frames laboriously and paint them with a brush
  • Anyone interested in speeding up and sharpening the painting of glazing

This is a set of painting masks, not a model of the aircraft. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

No. It is a set of painting masks for spraying the cockpit glazing on a model of the Jet Provost T.3/T.3a. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.

They cover the cockpit glazing so that only the frames can be sprayed cleanly with an airbrush. Masks for the wheel hubs are usually enclosed too.

Japanese kabuki masking tape, which holds its shape well, follows curved surfaces and leaves no adhesive residue when lifted.
