A finely cast compass for building the German Junkers Ju 87 dive bomber in the D-5, D-8 and G versions in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a resin cockpit accessory that replaces the small instrument from the plastic kit with a more faithful shape and sharper detail. It is made by Quickboost, a brand of the Aires company.
The Junkers Ju 87, nicknamed Stuka, was a German dive bomber of the Second World War with fixed landing gear and a cranked wing. The late D versions and the anti-tank G differed in equipment and in the way they were used. The compass was part of the basic instrument fit of the cockpit and is a clearly visible detail in an open cabin.
Wash the resin casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent. Cut off the casting block and clean up the surface, then bond the small part with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Picking out the compass card in a different color and adding a fine wash will bring the compass to life, ideally before the cockpit is closed up. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
