Dead Design 1:72 Ki-51 Sonia is a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing of the cockpit and for the wheels of the Japanese light attack aircraft in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Japanese Ki-51 light ground attack and reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory to a model that you obtain separately. Besides the glazing of the cockpit, the set covers the masking of the wheels as well, so the paint of the disc is easily separated from the tire.
The Ki-51 has a long glazed cockpit with a great many thin frames. In a small scale such frames are hard to outline with hand-cut tape, and a small inaccuracy is enough for a frame to come out ragged. Die-cut masks fit the shape of the glazing and the frames come out evenly wide. The uncovered area is then sprayed with the same paint as the rest of the airframe, so the cockpit looks like part of the structure rather than a glued-on part.
First wash the clear parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry, so that the masks hold well. Press the masks down once stuck on and push the edges home with a toothpick. First spray a thin coat of the interior paint or of the base, so that any leaky places are closed off, and only then apply the covering shade. Use the masks for the wheels only once the tires have been fitted to the model, so that the direction of the disc can be controlled.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
