The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien in the Tei version, 1:72 scale: a plastic kit of a Japanese army fighter with a liquid-cooled V engine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the army fighter aircraft known under the name Hien and the service designation type 3 fighter. According to the name this is the Ki-61-I form in the Tei version. Aoshima releases the model.
The Hien was the only Japanese production fighter aircraft with a liquid-cooled V engine derived from a German license. Its slim pointed nose gave it a silhouette so different from the radial types that Allied pilots at first took it for a machine of European origin, and a separate code name, Tony, therefore arose for it. The Tei form differs from the earlier versions by a longer fuselage and heavier armament concentrated in the forward section. The aircraft were deployed over the southwest Pacific, the Philippines and over the home islands.
In a small scale the cleanness of the engraved lines decides the final impression, so after sanding the seams go over the lines again with a scribing needle. Accentuate the instrument panel and the harness with a dark shade and a dry brush; more detail will be lost under a closed canopy anyway. Do not spray a metal surface straight onto the plastic but onto a smooth gloss undercoat, otherwise it comes out unevenly. Lay the decals onto a gloss coat and press them down with a softener.
The aircraft is in the package unassembled and without a coat.
