Ki-61-Id control surfaces is a resin set of control surfaces for a model of the Japanese Ki-61-Id fighter in 1:72 from the manufacturer Aires. It is an accessory for a kit you already own, not a model of an airplane.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the plastic rudders and flaps with accurate resin castings. It offers a finer relief of the skin and above all the possibility of seating the control surfaces deflected, as they look on a parked aircraft in reality. It is not a kit of an airplane but an accessory for a model of the Ki-61-Id in 1:72.
A deflected rudder or drooped flaps give away at once that a model is not merely glued together out of the box. The resin castings capture the structure of the ribbing and the fabric skin more finely than injected plastic can in a small scale, and thanks to the separate parts you decide the position of the surfaces yourself. The set also suits diorama scenes with an aircraft under maintenance.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to remove any release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and clean the surfaces up by sanding; do not inhale the resin dust, and ideally sand wet. For gluing use super glue (cyanoacrylate); ordinary plastic cement does not work on resin. The original plastic surfaces have to be cut off, so it is a good idea to measure twice and cut once. Choose the deflection sparingly and consistently so that the model looks natural.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
