Eduard 1:72 Lightning F.6 (painting masks)

A set of self-adhesive Eduard painting masks in quality yellow Japanese kabuki tape. The parts are machine-cut with precision and make quick, clean masking of the frames of the glazed cockpit easier while a plastic model of the English Electric Lightning F.6 fighter in 1:72 scale is painted. This is an accessory to a kit, not the model itself.

The real subject

The BAC (English Electric) Lightning F.6 was a late interceptor version of the British supersonic fighter of the Cold War. Compared with the older versions it had a larger ventral tank and reworked leading edges of the wing for a longer range. The Lightning made its name for exceptional speed and rate of climb.

Use and tips

• Degrease the glazing and rid it of dust before applying them.
• Carry the individual parts with tweezers and press the edges down with a toothpick.
• Spray the paint in thin coats, so that it does not run under the mask.
• Lift the masks off while the paint is still slightly supple, for a crisp transition.
