Cut masking films for the Crusader kit in 1:72 scale from the brand Academy. The advanced level covers the canopy and the wheels and suits the E, J and P versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vought F-8 Crusader went down in history as the machine on which the US Navy still relied on guns at a time when other aircraft were moving over to guided missiles alone. Its pilots were nicknamed the last of the gunfighters, and over Vietnam the Crusader recorded the best kill ratio of all the carrier types. It was unmistakable in its design as well: the whole wing lifted around its forward hinge on landing, so that the aircraft could come onto the deck of a carrier with the fuselage level and the pilot could see over the nose.
The precisely cut parts are laid on the glass of the canopy, pressed down and taken off after spraying. They follow the shape of the frames, so the slow cutting of tape with a knife directly on the model, where it is easy to slip and scratch the clear part, falls away. Discs for the tires are usually included as well, so that the hub can be sprayed without paint creeping onto the rubber. The film holds firmly enough for paint not to get under it and still peels off without adhesive residue.
The abbreviation in brackets at the end of the name refers to the Korean maker of the kit whose parts the mask is drawn from. On a different kit of the same aircraft the shapes of the frames may differ and the parts may not fit. The set is in the variant described as advanced, that is, one step simpler than the most detailed version from the same maker, which also covers the small cutouts on the fuselage. The package does not contain a model of the aircraft or paints.
