An extended set of masks for the S-3A Viking aircraft in 1:72 in the EXPERT version, cut for the Hasegawa kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The career of this carrier machine in the end stretched far beyond its original anti-submarine role. After the end of the Cold War the aircraft served mainly as flying tankers and carriers of anti-ship missiles, and sixteen airframes were converted to the ES-3A Shadow reconnaissance version. The type disappeared from the decks of American aircraft carriers only at the end of the first decade of this century, and a few examples then helped with research for years.
The version designated EXPERT goes beyond the cabin alone. Besides the glazing of the cockpit it adds small masking shapes for areas that are otherwise very hard to cover, so a modeler saves the most time on exactly the smallest details. The larger contents are what set it apart from the basic version.
Mask only once the interior is finished, otherwise you will not get past the frames. Set the small shapes with a moistened toothpick, which holds them on its point. Before spraying, check against the light that no gap has been left. Remove them starting from the largest piece, so that the smaller parts are not forgotten under the varnish.
A large canopy looks best on a finished model when the frame is narrow and straight. A sprayed frame has the advantage over one painted over with a brush that it matches the color of the surrounding surface exactly, whereas a hand-drawn line tends to be a shade off and shows up in side light.
The model and the paints are not part of the package; what you are buying is an aid for painting.
