This is a masking set, that is an accessory for a model, not a kit of the aircraft. You will find no plastic parts in the package — the set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks, which are stuck onto a finished model and taken off again after spraying. The base model of the aircraft in 1:72 scale has to be obtained separately.
The most demanding place on any aircraft model is the framing of the cockpit canopy. Cutting strips of adhesive tape by hand is laborious and rarely comes out straight at the first attempt. Pre-cut masks follow the shape of the framing, so the paint edges are sharp and symmetrical. Eduard masks are cut to fit a particular shape of transparent part, so before buying it is advisable to check that your kit matches the one the set is cut for. Wash the transparent parts before masking in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry — grease from fingers makes a mask hold less well. Transfer a mask with pointed tweezers or a toothpick and press the edges down carefully, otherwise the paint will run underneath. Spray in thin layers and preferably in two passes; a heavy layer of paint creates a step at the edge. Take the mask off while the paint has only flashed off, not fully cured, and do it at an angle, not straight away from the surface. Remains of adhesive come off with a soft cloth moistened with water.
