The photo-etched set with decals Remove Before Flight in 1:48 scale from HAD models — miniature safety streamers for a convincingly parked aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is not a model of an airplane but a small detail accessory. According to the name it combines photo-etched parts and decals, from which the warning streamers that mark a machine as safed and not to be flown are made up. On a real airplane they hang from seat safety pins, from the covers of intakes and probes, from landing gear locks and from pylon pins. In 1:48 scale these are genuinely small parts — a streamer is only a few millimeters on the model, so you work with tweezers and in good lighting.
The load-bearing part of a streamer is the photo-etched metal; the printing is provided by a decal. Separate the parts with a sharp knife or photo-etch scissors on a hard surface; a small etched part twists easily if it is broken out. Brush the spot under the decal with gloss varnish, settle the decal with a softener and let it dry completely. Then give the streamer a slight wave, so that at a small scale it reads as fabric, and attach it with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin. A very thin coat of primer is essential on metal, otherwise the paint rubs off with handling.
In 1:48 scale less is more — a few well-placed streamers look better than a heap of them. The best effect comes when you add covers for the intakes, chocks under the wheels or a ground crew figure to the model and stand it on an apron surface.
This is a detail accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
