Eduard 1:72 Me 262B-1 is a color photo-etched set that adds detailed metal parts, above all in the cockpit, to a model of the two-seat Me 262B-1 in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit but an aftermarket accessory from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The set holds parts etched from thin metal sheet, some of them printed in color and ready to use with no painting. The color parts are aimed above all at the cockpits of both crew positions, while the bare ones go on small details of the airframe. The basic injection-molded Me 262B-1 kit in 1:72 scale has to be bought separately.
In a small scale, injection-molded plastic has a limited ability to render thin elements: belts, instrument panels, grilles, covers and stiffeners all come out too thick. Photo-etched sheet is an order of magnitude thinner, so these parts look more faithful. On the two-seat version the gain tells twice over, because both the front and the rear cockpit are clearly visible under the long glazing.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface rather than with nippers, as the sheet would otherwise deform. Make the folds in one movement in a bending tool or between two blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a minimal amount, and on transparent elements clear varnish is the better choice. Do not overspray the color-printed parts with aggressive clear coats, as they would damage the printing. The plastic relief the photo-etched part replaces has to be sanded flat beforehand.
The set is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
