The masks are cut to match the shape of the parts of that kit, so there is no lengthy cutting and fitting of strips of tape. Peewit is a Czech brand specializing in modeling masks; its glazing masks are made from kabuki tape, which follows curved surfaces well, holds on the edge of a frame and leaves no adhesive when lifted.
The Erla Haube is an improved canopy of the Bf 109, named after the Erla factory in Leipzig where it was created. It replaced the older, heavily framed canopy: it had considerably fewer frames and larger glazed areas, so it markedly improved the pilot's view - above all to the rear, which was crucial in combat. It appeared on later Gustavs and was used on other versions as well. It is precisely the different division of the frames that is the reason you need masks made directly for the Erla canopy - masks for the standard cockpit will not fit it.
Degrease the glazing before masking and let it dry. Move the masks with tweezers and, once laid down, press them along the whole length of the edge with a toothpick - only then will no paint creep underneath. Spray the color of the frames first, then the primer and the camouflage. Lift the masks carefully and preferably shortly after the paint has dried.
