A photo-etch metal set for a model of the German twin-engine aircraft Messerschmitt Me 410A-1/U-2 in 1:72 scale. It brings elements thinner than injection-molded plastic allows.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched part is a thin metal sheet into which a shape has been etched chemically. This creates elements a tenth of a millimeter thick, something a plastic kit cannot achieve. On the model, the difference shows wherever the real material should genuinely be thin: instrument panels, seat harness straps, grilles, fittings, and small linkages. This set is designed for the Me 410A-1/U-2 model in 1:72 scale.
The Messerschmitt Me 410 was a German twin-engine combat aircraft from the Second World War that followed the unsuccessful Me 210 and fixed its flight-handling problems. It became known by the name Hornisse. Its crew consisted of two men seated one behind the other, with a bomb bay in the forward fuselage; the aircraft carried remotely operated gun barbettes on the sides of the fuselage, controlled by the rear crew member. The letter U with a number in German designations denoted supplementary equipment used to adapt a production aircraft for a specific task.
Separate the elements with a sharp blade on a hard surface — scissors will twist the thin metal. Make bends in a bending tool or between two blades, always along the marked score line. Glue with a small amount of cyanoacrylate; plastic cement has no effect on metal. Degrease the metal before painting and coat it with a primer for metal, or the finish will crack and flake off. Work over a tray and with tweezers, since small parts like to bounce away.
The photo-etch set is supplied. The model, glue, paints, and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
