A set of painting masks in 1:72 scale for a model of the MiG-17 fighter. The masks are stuck on before spraying and taken off again after painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-17 is a Soviet single-seat fighter of the early 1950s that grew out of the MiG-15. It differs from its predecessor in a slimmer fuselage, a wing with greater sweep and a reworked tail; the aim of these changes was better behavior at high speed. It was built in large numbers, served with the Soviet Air Force and with many other operators and was also produced under license in Poland and China.
This is a set of painting masks in 1:72 scale, shaped for particular places on the model. What is most often covered this way is the canopy glazing, where masking by hand with tape takes the most time and where it is hard to keep the edges of the frames straight. The extent of the masks, their numbering, their placement on the model and the kit they are cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Stick the masks on before spraying, onto a dry and degreased surface, and press the edges down carefully so that no paint creeps underneath. Apply the paint in several thin coats rather than one heavy one; a thick coat builds a step at the edge of the mask and can chip when it is removed. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, best with the tip of a pair of tweezers, and do not leave it on the model longer than necessary.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
