A masking accessory for the Special Hobby kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Art Scale. The set serves for covering the clear areas of the cockpit canopy while spraying, so that only the framing is left exposed. It is a single-sided version, so the masks are intended for the outer side of the clear part. You can mask the inner side yourself as needed, or leave it in the color of the plastic. It is not a kit or decals but an aid that turns the most tedious part of a build into a matter of a few minutes.
The Dassault Mirage IIICJ is the export configuration of the French single-engine fighter of tailless delta layout, delivered to the Israeli Air Force (IAF). The design is built on a thin delta wing and a single turbojet with afterburner, thanks to which the type was among the fast interceptors of its day. The cockpit is covered by a fairly small canopy with sharply cut framing and a fixed windscreen, which in 1:72 scale is especially hard to mask, because its frames are only a little thicker than a fine line.
Wash the clear part, degrease it and let it dry, so that the mask holds throughout the spraying. Carry the individual masks with tweezers, seat them along the frame and press them down with a soft wooden stick or with a finger through a piece of paper. Trim any overhang with a sharp blade exactly along the outline of the frame, guiding the blade lightly so that it leaves no groove in the plastic. Next comes a thin coat of base color, which seals the edges of the mask, and only then the shade itself. Once the paint has flashed off, take the masks off and wipe away any adhesive residue with a cotton bud.
It is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
