A masking set tied to the moving surfaces of a model of the Japanese fighter Mitsubishi A6M5 Model 52 Reisen in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi A6M was a Japanese carrier-based fighter of the Second World War, carried in Japan under the shortened designation Reisen. The Model 52 version is one of the late variants: it has a shortened wing with rounded tips and separate exhaust stacks led out along the sides of the fuselage. It is precisely that combination that is the most conspicuous thing on a model and sets it apart from the earlier versions with the long wing.
The masks define the moving surfaces on the model, that is the ailerons, the elevator and the rudder. You can therefore spray them separately, in a shade or a degree of sheen of their own, and the boundary between them and the fixed structure stays sharp and comes out in the paint. The exact extent of the set and the recommended procedure are stated in the manufacturer's instructions; go through them before the first spray pass.
The surface under the mask must be dry, clean and degreased, otherwise the mask will not take hold and the paint will run underneath it. Press the edges down all the way around with a blunt stick and spray thinly in several passes; one heavy layer gets under the edge more easily and leaves a ridge you can feel. Take the mask off while the finish is freshly dried and draw it at an angle across the edge, not straight upward.
The kit, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
