This product is not a kit but a photo-etched detail set in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. It contains fine etched parts that refine and bring a plastic Mosquito FB Mk.VI model to life, adding and replacing details that injection-molded plastic cannot capture faithfully.
The de Havilland Mosquito was a British twin-engine combat aircraft of the Second World War of largely wooden construction, for which it earned the nickname the Wooden Wonder. The FB Mk.VI version was a fighter-bomber, a versatile machine powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Merlin engines and used for attacks on ground targets, precision raids and escort work. The combination of speed and versatility made it one of the most successful aircraft of the RAF.
The etched parts are intended for advanced modelers. The individual parts are separated from the fret with a sharp knife, bent on a photo-etch bender or over a sharp edge and joined with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); larger areas can also be soldered. Degrease the parts before gluing so that they hold well. The assembly is evened out by spraying a primer, followed by airbrushing and gentle highlighting with a wash. The set is an accessory for a plastic Mosquito FB Mk.VI kit in 1:72 scale, which has to be obtained separately.
