About product

Quickboost 1:72 Mosquito oil radiators

A set of replacement oil radiators for the model of the British de Havilland Mosquito in 1:72 scale. It is made by Quickboost, the accessory line of the Czech company Aires; according to the available information the parts are cast from resin and are very thin. It is neither a kit nor an aircraft model: it is a detailing accessory replacing the plastic parts from the box. The model, glue and paints are not in the package.

Why replace the radiators

The Mosquito was a twin-engine combat aircraft built largely of wood, fast and versatile, used as a bomber, a fighter and a reconnaissance machine. Its design solved oil cooling elegantly: the oil radiators were built into the leading edge of the wing next to the engine nacelles, so they are clearly visible from the front on a model. Injection-molded plastic here, however, often ends at a solid face with a molded grille. A resin casting manages genuinely open and recessed radiator ducts, which gives the wing a depth that cannot be got out of a mold.

Use

  • Remove the original radiator shape from the model parts and level the area in the leading edge according to the instructions.
  • Separate the resin parts from the casting blocks carefully; they are thin and break easily, so do not snap them off.
  • Do the sanding wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust must not be breathed in.
  • Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap before gluing (mold release agent residue).
  • Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), as ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin.
  • Apply a primer; darken the inside of the ducts so that the open grille stands out.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the Mosquito in 1:72 and want a real opening in the leading edge instead of a molded face. The change is small but visible. Given how thin the castings are, it suits those who already have some experience with resin.

An accessory for modelers, not a toy. Sand resin wet, in a ventilated area and with respiratory protection. Cyanoacrylate glue bonds skin instantly too, so protect your eyes and hands.

FAQ

No. The package contains only the replacement oil radiators. It does not include a Mosquito kit in 1:72, glue or paints; they have to be obtained separately.

The plastic part is usually a solid face with a molded grille. A resin casting allows a genuinely open and recessed duct, so the leading edge of the wing gains real depth.

Carefully. Separate them from the casting block with a saw, never snap them off, and do the sanding wet with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and a primer should be applied before painting.

In the leading edge of the wing in the area of the engine nacelles. That is precisely why they are clearly visible on a finished model and why improving them has such an effect.
