Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the French Nieuport 24bis fighter of the First World War in 1:72 scale from Roden. The set contains plastic parts with a nicely simulated fabric surface, a spare but period-faithful cockpit and a decal sheet with several marking options. As a biplane (more precisely a sesquiplane) it calls for rigging; a clear rigging diagram is usually part of the instructions.
The Nieuport 24bis was a development refinement of the successful family of French light Nieuport fighters, not an entirely new type. It began reaching combat units in the summer of 1917. It was marked by the typical sesquiplane structure with a narrow lower wing and by a light, agile airframe. Besides French pilots it was used by other Allied air forces and it also served for training.
Finish and paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. Once the base coat is sprayed on, paint the model with an airbrush – silvery fabric with a metal engine cowling is typical – and bring the surface to life with a fine wash. Count on the rigging; follow the diagram from the instructions and run the wires ideally only after painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
